2012 Taos Open Information

The ever-popular Taos Open has always been an exciting show, not only for the artist but for visitors as well. Often visitors spend most of their time perusing the Taos Open looking for the unexpected. Some artists prefer not to have their art juried for a variety of reasons and the Open is an opportunity for them to showcase their art. Many Taos artists have been “discovered” in this diverse and unique show.

LIABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Taos Fall Arts Festival (TFAF) and/or The Convention Center (Town of Taos) will not be responsible for loss or damage of any artwork, no matter what the cause. Artwork is not insured while in the possession of TFAF and The Convention Center (Town of Taos).

By submitting artwork to this exhibition and signing the Entry Form contract, each artist agrees to these conditions.

Art Submission Guidelines for the Taos Open - Please read carefully, thank you!

All work must be original and must not have been previously exhibited in retail or for sale situations.

All artwork must be an original produced by the submitting artist within the last twelve months. Please bring in all art dry.

An artist may submit two pieces of artwork, each not greater than 52” longest dimension, when framed. This includes triptychs and diptyches.

Or, an artist may submit 1 oversized piece, instead of two, not to exceed 72” longest dimension including framing. Total circumference, including frame, cannot be greater than 216 inches.

Absolutely no Giclee, with the exception of photography, or mechanically produced art of any kind.

All photographic ink jets must be made with archival inks on archival paper.

All work must be for sale at the normal gallery price, and “Not For Sale” items will not be accepted.

The artist will receive 60% of the retail sales price with the TFAF sales commission is 40%. If available buyer contact info will be provided to the artist with their payment at the conclusion of the show.

Jewelers must provide their own secure display cases and stands.

Sculptors, potters and artists of 3-D pieces must provide their own display stand(s), pedestal(s) or table(s).

Since the buyer will be allowed to take art home upon purchase (unless the artwork has received an award) a replacement piece will be allowed. For sold artwork that has received an award, the artist will be allowed to bring in another piece of artwork in the same category.

Framing: All 2-D artwork must be framed and wired for proper hanging. No exceptions! Gallery wrapped art will be accepted provided the edges are painted.

Sculptures must fit through a 30” wide door.

Buyers or potential buyers are curious about the biography of the artist(s). Please bring in a one page (8.5” x 11”) Artist statement along with any promotional materials for display.
To participate in the OPEN artists must have resided in Taos County for a minimum of one (1) year.

FEES - PAYMENT OF FEES:

$20. Fee for each piece of artwork, 2 pieces may be submitted
Jewelry fee-$25 for up to 10 pieces
One oversized artwork entry fee $50
Fee(s) will be collected when the artwork is delivered to Bataan Hall, Taos Convention Center

DELIVERY OF ARTWORK

THE TFAF ACCEPTS THE ARTWORK FOR THE OPEN ONLY ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH 9 am to 5 pm, BATAAN HALL

Artists must complete and sign an entry form to be submitted. The form can be downloaded and completed for your convenience.

All oil paintings must be completely dry. Yes, this has been a problem in the past!

You may have a representative deliver your art, fees, and the submission form signed by you, the artist.

PICK UP OF ARTWORK

All unsold art must be picked up on Monday, October 8th 9 am to 5 pm
