TAOS INVITES TAOS IS BY ANNUAL INVITATION ONLY

The criteria for acceptance into Taos Invites Taos are:

1. The artist must have lived in Taos County for five (5) consecutive years.
2. The artist must reside in Taos County at least 75% of each year.
3. The artist’s portfolio must have been reviewed and accepted by the TFAF Jury Committee.


INSTRUCTIONS FOR PORTFOLIO REVIEW

The TFAF Committee will jury all submitted artist’s portfolios. The decision of the committee is final. Selected participants will be notified of the committee’s selections by mail by mid-April. Each portfolio must include:


1. High-Quality Photographs of the artwork, either printed (no matting or frames) or on CD
2. Biography
3. Contact Information

The deadline for the 2008 festival is passed.

We will start accepting portfolios for the 2009 Festival in November of 2008.


Art Submission Guidelines for Invited Artists: (Please read carefully)

EXHIBITION ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS:

1. An artist may submit two pieces of artwork, each not greater than 52” longest dimension when framed. This includes triptychs and diptychs, which in total, must be within the 52" maximum size.

2. Or, an artist may submit 1 oversized piece, instead of two, not to exceed 72 inches longest dimension including framing. Total circumference, including frame, cannot be greater than 216 inches.

3. Additionally, each artist (except Jewlery category) may submit one miniature work, (maximum size 14" x 14" framed and for sculptures a maximum of 8" tall, excluding the base.)

4. Absolutely NO Giclee, with the exception of photography, or mechanically-produced art of any kind, will be accepted.

5. All photographic ink jet prints must be made with archival inks on archival paper.

6. All work must be original and must not have been previously exhibited in retail or for-sale situations. All artwork must be an original produced by the submitting artist within the last twelve months.

7. All work must be for sale at the normal gallery price, and “Not For Sale” items will not be accepted.

8. A reply from the artist regarding acceptance in Taos Invites Taos must be made by May 9, 2008.

9. With acceptance, artist must include payment of $25 for brochure inclusion fee and a biography of 100 words or less (bios over 100 words will be edited) for the brochure. A form for acceptance will be included with the invitation letter.

10. The artist will receive 60% of the retail sales price and the TFAF sales commission is 40%. Buyer contact information also will be provided to the artist with their payment after completion of the exhibition.

11. Sculptors and potters must provide their own display stand(s) or table(s).

12. Since buyer will be allowed to take the art home upon purchase, one replacement piece will be allowed. For art purchased that has received an award, we ask buyers to leave the art for the duration of the show if possible. For sold artwork that has received an award, the artist will be allowed to bring in one piece of artwork in the same category.

13. Framing: All 2D artwork must be framed and wired for hanging. No exceptions!

14. All pedestals must be provided by artist.


FEES AND DELIVERY OF ARTWORK

Artists must bring a completed and signed entry form with the uncrated and ready to display and DRIED artwork to:

DELIVERY will be on this date only: Monday SEPT 22, 2008 between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

NEW for 2008 – When you turn in your artwork on Monday, September 22, 2008, the following handling fees will apply:
1) artwork $20 each for up to two,
2) jewelry $25 for up to 10 pieces,
3) one oversized entry $50,
4) no fee for miniatures.
5) Please make out checks to TFAF.

You may have a representative deliver your art, a check for the fee and entry form signed by artist.

YOU MUST BRING YOUR COPY OF THIS ENTRY FORM TO PICK UP YOUR ART. If not picked up, this work will become the property of Taos Fall Arts Festival, Inc. Pickup will be on this date only. You may have a representative bring your copy of this form and pick up your art for you.
