The legacy of famed folk artist Patrociño Barela remains one of the pillars of the Taos art community, as evidenced by family members who continue to create works in the style he established.
A Works Progress Administration participant and world-renowned woodcarver, Barela has inspired new generations to continue the art of carving, the release continues. Grandsons Carlos and Luis are award winners in their own right, followed by their children Roberto (Carlos); Daniel, Jessica and Antonia (Luis). Granddaughter Patricia also carves along with her husband, Daniel Rael.
